The Harry Potter Studio Tour, as you may know it, is officially named the ‘Warner Brothers Studios Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter’. While it may be similar to theme parks like Orlando’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the London attraction is more than just a tribute with rides, as it an integral part of the Harry Potter franchise and history.
The Harry Potter Studio Tour is hosted in the actual warehouses where all eight films were shot, across two soundstages. Warner Brothers made a strategic decision to purchase the site in the outskirts of Watford and invested £100 million to create the exhibition, which has been open to the public since 2012, marking over a decade of operation.
As such, the Harry Potter Studio Tour in London immerses visitors in the making of the beloved film series. Starting with Harry’s cupboard under the stairs, the tour includes cinema-like rooms showing films about the series’ history and key moments. The Great Hall of Hogwarts marks the tour’s official beginning.
Guests can explore iconic sets like Dumbledore’s office, walk through the Forbidden Forest and experience a broomstick flight with the help of green screen technology. The tour also features the Hogwarts Express at Platform 9 and ¾ along with interactive experiences with the Knight Bus and Diagon Alley.
Focusing on filmmaking, the studio exhibition also reveals the development of creature creation, special effects, props and costume design. The tour highlight is a detailed 1:24 scale model of Hogwarts Castle, showcasing the artistry and craftsmanship of the film’s production. This striking conclusion leaves a lasting impression, encapsulating the magic of the Harry Potter universe.
